First Time my Boy

200

First time we saw you Mimma picked you up and you sucked on the palm of her hand thinking it was your mother and we brought you home.

First time Tony woke up in the morning and you were no longer here.

First time Scott you cried out during the night for your mother I picked you up and placed you on my chest, we slept heart to heart.

First time Tony came downstairs this morning and you were not there to share breakfast.

First time I took you to the beach to see the ocean you ran under my legs because you were afraid of the waves.

First time Mimma was getting washed before going to work you were not there stepping on her feet with your 120 pounds because you wanted to drink water in bathroom and hearing her scream “Scotty madonna mia”!!

First time we took you around for a walk Mimma would get mad because you had to pee on every tree in Nettuno.

First time we left to take Mimma to the train station you were not in the car with us.

First time we took you to the Alps we slept in a tent for ten days because we couldn’t find a hotel that would accept you.

First time after seeing Mimma off to work on the train, I looked in the rear view mirror and you were not in the car and I came home alone.

First time we went to the woods near the beach and you would run after the rabbits and squirrels.

First time after coming home from the hospital knowing I had multiple sclerosis I wanted out of the car to walk up the driveway with my canes  to try and meet you halfway but you won you were too fast for me.

First time I am home alone working in my office and you are not here.

First time we went out to eat in Paris at a restaurant, the waiter saw you under the table and brought you a bowl of water.

First time Mimma and I went shopping looking at our watch thinking you were home waiting for us we came home and there wasn’t no longer our golden boy waiting behind the door.

First time we hiked up to Puez near Passo Gardena one of the hardest trails to do you were in front pulling mimma and I up the mountain.

First time we had dinner and you weren’t sitting between Mimma’s legs at the table with your head resting on her chest.

First time I was riding the paris brest paris and my neck muscles stopped working 120 miles from the finish I lay under a tree at 2am alone, thinking about the time when I came home a year earlier from the hospital having a hard time walking you raced toward me to help me walk up the driveway to make it back home.

First time Mimma went to bed at 8:45 pm and she didn’t call out to you saying let’s go to bed Totty as she called you.

First time Paris Brest Paris arriving at the finish line with an inner tube holding my head up, I was looking for you and Mimma.  First thing I heard and saw was you barking and running toward me, you were there again like you were when I came home from the hospital you ran with me as I rode to the finish line.

First time Mimma and I went to bed, you are no longer sleeping on the floor near us, on your bed downstairs near the fireplace or on the couch.

First time our hearts are not touching each other all 3 of us, you, mimma and me.  You had to go God needed you.

First time To my best friends’ best friend: Scotty, thanks for taking care of my man with your strength and unconditional love when he needed it most. You were sent to him by the man upstairs for a reason, you did his work beautifully, took him from a bed to pedaling enough miles to circle the earth, made him laugh when he felt like crying, got him to look forward to tomorrow when today felt like hell. You have left physically but will never leave spiritually.  Dave Contardi  , Tony’s best friend.

Until the second time we will always love you

tony and mimma
